October 2007 Poets Page

A celebration of poetry written by members and friends of the MuseItUp Club. Submissions are invited for this page.*

This month we present three poems by Margaret Fieland.

Sunset, Evening, into Night

Mauve clouds graze the horizon.
A light breeze ruffles green leaves
as a ruby sun edges below the horizon:
twilight

Failing light barely illuminates the garden,
eventually fading entirely,
leaving only outlines as night and
darkness fall.

Mouse Breath

Thunder cat
Paws open the door
Slips down the stairs

Eyes elongate
Ears elevate
Tail twitches

Pounce!
Crunch!

A Walk in the Woods

I saunter past the green metal fence
onto the dirt path,
oaks, elms, pine trees on either side,

kicking quartz and mica pebbles
as I climb to the top of the hill,
bare of trees,

where I look out over
the scarlet, tangerine, gold, and emerald
leaves of this October afternoon

as the cool breeze blows
cotton puff clouds
across a bright blue sky.
